RV25 - More Nature Photos from the Archives
These images are scans of Kodachrome slides found in the Rouge Valley archives. The original photos were taken by Pam Keith during Rouge Valley's first year (1991-1992). Pam was one of the founding teachers of the school. Prints of some of these beautiful photos are still hanging in the staff room for all to enjoy!
Rouge Valley PS: 25 Years of Eco-Literacy
Rouge Valley PS recently celebrated her 25th anniversary. In preparation for the celebration, I had the opportunity to delve into the school archives. While doing so, I came across a collection of old Kodachrome slides taken during the very first year of Rouge Valley's existence.
Some of the slides show Rouge Valley staff taking a guided tour through the Rouge Park. Other slides show students going on nature walks and engaging in a variety of activities along the Rouge River.
It's a great feeling to know that we are continuing in a long tradition of place-based education and eco-literacy.
Here are a few slides of staff and students from the 1991-1992 school year:

Rouge Valley's 25th Anniversary - Tile Mosaic
We are celebrating Rouge Valley's 25th Anniversary.
As part of the celebration, each student made a painting on a ceramic tile. The theme for the artwork was wildlife from Rouge Park. For inspiration, students used their experiences from our walks in the Rouge, supplemented by researching online.
The tile mosaic was planned and organized by Ms. Calma.
Mr. Cooke helped with the assembly and mounting.
Here is the finished product that is proudly on display in the main floor hallway of Rouge Valley PS.
